The European Union is frustrated with the implementation of the Metaverse platform by its political parties. Only 6 users attended the party and spent $400,000.
The EU is throwing a party to support the Metaverse platform. Advertised as “full of music and fun”, the virtual beach party cost about $400,000.
The 24-hour party aims to get young people interested in the EU’s recently announced Global Gateway strategy.
According to TRT News, reporter Vince Chadwick, who participated in the virtual party, tweeted: “I’ve arrived for the ‘premiere’ of the EU Metaverse. We were surprised after talking to 5 other people around.”
An employee at the establishment spoke to the newspaper after the event was announced last month, calling the party “disgraceful.”
Twitter users have also been highly critical of the EU. One user said: “Seriously? There is a severe drought in East Africa, and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees does not have enough food and money for the camps. Are you spending money on this?” It is about countering Chinese influence so that the post-pandemic world can recover.
A representative of the agency, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the project is aimed at young people aged 18 to 35 who are neutral towards the EU and not particularly interested in political issues.
On the other hand, the metaverse concept, which made a splash last year and attracted significant investment from government agencies and companies, may have fallen out of favor recently. For example, Decentraland, one of the largest Metaverse projects, reported that its 24-hour active users in October fell below 50.
Decentraland has reached an all-time high of 675 daily active users. In another major project, The Sandbox, this number was about 4,503 people.
