PHILADELPHIA, March 14, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Bongiovi Medical & Health Technologies (BMHT) Medical Group presents the results of groundbreaking research into the effectiveness of VR users in healthcare, gaming, learning and entertainment. The results will be presented at Penn Medicine’s International Global Symposium on Virtual Reality and Healthcare on March 5, 2023. The research focused on determining how Bongiovi’s patented Digital Power Station (DPS) can deliver immersive sound. ) audio processing solutions empower VR users.
“These results demonstrate the effectiveness and added value of enhanced audio immersion in a variety of virtual and augmented reality applications, including medical/clinical therapy, all types of training, education, and of course gaming and entertainment,” said Dr. James Hughes. “The more realistic and immersive the sound, the more authentic and effective the overall experience will be.”
“The more realistic and immersive the sound, the more realistic and effective the overall experience will be,” said Dr. James Hughes.
BMHT conducted this study in collaboration with the University of Geneva, the International Red Cross and the EMTEQ laboratory. DPS VR solutions include real-time audio playback, V3D audio visualization, enhanced speech intelligibility, and immersive, natural, and accurate 360-degree audio positioning.
“I am very excited about the results. They have many applications in virtual reality,” said Dr. Walter Greenleaf, a medical expert in virtual and augmented reality at Stanford University’s Virtual Human Interaction Laboratory.
The study was conducted at the University of Geneva and the impact on VR users was defined in terms of immersion (presence) and emotional activation (valence). Subjects were exposed to the treatment material in both DPS On/Advanced Settings and DPS Off/Normal Settings modes. Test data is collected in two different ways:
The findings show that DPS-enhanced audio delivers several important improvements to the overall VR experience, including:
“We always apply an interdisciplinary scientific approach to our research. This study shows that our VR solutions can improve patient outcomes in therapeutic VR applications,” said Dr. Daniel Weiss, Chief Medical Officer of BMHT. “We knew there was something special about our immersive audio solutions, and the results of the study confirmed it.”
